Dr. Charles Matthew Hudson, Jr., was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and reared in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania by a strong southern spiritual woman who believed in the power of prayer. Pastor Hudson has truly lived out the words recorded by the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth" (NRSV).
After ten years of honorable service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he relocated to Oakland, California. Filled with a call to serve God and His people, he fervently served as a faithful and dedicated minister-in-training who diligently studied under the instruction of the Holy Spirit and the direct tutelage of the renowned and prophetic-preacher-scholar, the Reverend Doctor J. Alfred Smith, Sr., at the Allen Temple Baptist Church, where he was licensed and ordained.
Pastor Hudson prepared himself to do the work of an "evangelist." He holds an earned Doctor of Ministry degree in Church Leadership from the Bethel Theological Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, a Master of Divinity degree in Church History and Old Testament Studies from the Morehouse School of Religion, ITC, Atlanta Georgia, and a B.S. degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach Florida.
Pastor Hudson is a former U.S. Navy Officer/Chaplain, Hospice chaplain, and Lincoln University campus pastor. He is also the former pastor of three Baptist churches and an adjunct professor of the Center for Urban Theological Studies, PA, the Springfield College of Human Services, Wilmington DE, and the Palmer Theological Seminary, PA.
But more than all of that, Pastor Hudson is first and foremost a man of prayer and faith, and a true servant of the Lord. His greatest gift and attribute is his availability for God's love to be demonstrated through him as he enthusiastically spreads the "Good News" of Jesus Christ wherever he may be. God has blessed Pastor Hudson with a loving and supportive Christian wife, Shelley, and three lovely children, Charles III, Amber-Grace and Faith-Jordan.
